2009 FRIEND OF TAB AWARD

George Szekely Friend of TAB


George Szekely, professor, author, filmmaker and advocate for children’s play and home art studios, is this year’s recipient of the 2009 Friend of Teaching for Artistic Behavior Award. Dr. Szekely is the author of ten art education books, including Encouraging Creativity in Art Lessons, From Play to Art, The Art of Teaching Art, and his latest; How Children Make Art. He is an NAEA Distinguished Fellow and recipient of the Manuel Barkan Prize and the Victor Lowenfeld Award Lecture. Dr. Szekely writes a monthly column, “Children’s Art Diary,” in Arts & Activities. At the University of Kentucky, Dr. Szekely directs the Adopt-A-School program for field-based art teacher preparation. TAB is pleased to honor Dr. Szekely for his support and belief in the child artist.
