COLLAGE DEMOS

These are not lesson plans but approaches to media, techniques and processes in a TAB classroom.
These can be covered in a five minute whole-group instruction called the “demonstration.”

The French word coller means "to glue". Picasso and Braque used the word in
the 1900’s in their paintings. When making a collage you need to FIND papers, shapes, colors.
ARRANGE these on a background. REARRANGE them to your liking and then glue
them. Interesting edges and layers can make a collage work!

Here are some materials and tools for collage:

Construction paper

Tagboard (for a stronger backing)

Magazines and newspapers

Wrappings and other decorative papers

Cloth

Small objects, such as buttons

Stickers and labels

White glue

Scissors

“Edger”scissors

Paper punches

Collages can be still life, landscape, portrait, animal, non-objective. What does your collage “say?”

Paper collage (torn and/or cut)

Photocollage

Texture collage

Tissue paper collage
